I've been here a number of times, and have enjoyed myself every time! The museum itself is fun to traverse inside and out. I especially enjoy the "traveling" exibits they occasionally host, and their events are always fun.
They have been renovating for awhile, so I hope they repair and improve their interactive exhibits, which are the funnest part for kids (and adults, tbh!
Fun to visit. Great for kids and adults. Trolley is a must! Great events.
The indoor exhibits are really well designed and you can tell a lot of time and money was put into the building, exhibits, and grounds.
A good tourist trap to visit in the summer; however, do not come before memorial day or after labor day. They are technically open during this time, but all of the outdoor exhibits are closed. Unfortunately, the price is the same whether or not the Discovery center is half-closed.
We have a family membership(3rd year). My kids love it there. (They are 9,6,3,1) We are going this afternoon to get out of the house. It's a big place to walk around inside in the winter.
Nice tram ride to learn about the iron mining history in the area. Putt putt golf course looked really good, but we ran out of time.
They also have a bussed Hibbing Taconite Mine tour on Thursdays during the summer, which is fascinating.
All around good family fun!
